iConnect Young Artists in the Park Project

I’ve just completed a photography/mentor program for some secondary students from Rosebud.   My role as Photographer/Mentor was teaching the students the basic fundamentals of Photography- how to look at their surroundings through the lens    from a photographic/artistic perspective and guiding them through the various stages  of the photographic process, from the technical to creative and finally to  printing/exhibiting of their work. My priority was to show them “how” to take photos but not “what” to photograph- that was for them decide,  but i did ask them to try and  “focus” on elements/features  in the landscape that makes Point Nepean National Park such a unique and special place.
Although my primary focus was teaching the students about photography it was also about the students “Connecting” with Nature . By spending time out in the Park searching for photographic inspiration also helps build a greater understanding and appreciation for the natural environment – making us more aware of it’s rich biodiversity.
I hope the students will walk away not with just a greater knowledge and passion for Photography but also with a greater respect and  appreciation for the Natural Environment.

An exhibition of some of the students and my photos are currently on display at Point Nepean until the end of July-please see attached flyer.iConnect Art Exhibition Poster FINAL
